"There is music in every child. The teacher's job is to find it and nurture it."
As a piano teacher, I strive to influence my students in a way that will have a positive effect on them for the rest of their lives. I believe that teaching is a way to inspire a student to learn and gain new knowledge. I hope to instill a love of music in them, and pass on my knowledge so that they can one day become their own artists.
I strive to bring out the best in my students. I believe in engaging and challenging them to achieve their full potential. It is my hope that when my students leave their lessons, they have gained new knowledge and grown as musicians.
During lessons, I have my students focus on a few different pieces of music at a time. Varying the music genres is important so that my students get a taste of different types of music from all different time periods. I make it a point for my students to work on technical pieces or studies to enhance their technique. In addition, I have my students study music theory, sight reading, and ear training. These elements are essential. I expect my students to come to their lessons prepared and ready to learn.
As a piano teacher, my goal is to pass on the gift of music to my students. In that process, I hope that my students are challenged, inspired, engaged, and enthusiastic about learning how to play the piano.
